Networking - people not data

     I've spent the last couple months meeting with old coworkers, new acquaintances and potential employers. I followed the advice of a mentor and grabbed a copy of the "20 Minute Networking Meeting". This book helped lay down the framework for how I should be conducting my networking meetings. The general gist is to optimize meeting with someone where both parties leave with a benefit. This then will slowly not only build out your personal network but also those that you meet.      You might ask, why is networking so important? Well, as soon as you can come to terms that it's _who_ you know and not _what_ you know, then the easier it is to find the next opportunity! For a real example, I applied to this one company and didn't get anything but an automated email. Three weeks pass, still haven't had any communication from that company. A New Journey

I'm embarking on this adventure to improve my written communication as well as trying to improve myself to be a better me. I want to start off by learning something new with an emphasis on tech but not limited to. I've had this domain tech-everyday.com for years now and I started off by trying to dabble into e-commerce when that was the hot trendy thing to do on the side and hope that it would bring in some sort of income. That didn't work out but it was an interesting learning experience because I got to develop and create relationships with vendors to source the products from. A couple years after that, I wanted to get into software consulting and decided to keep this domain and hopefully utilize it as a portfolio website. I've come to realize that doing that on the side is extremely time consuming and difficult to do even if it is just moonlighting.
